Wei-Chien Chen was born in Taichung. Specializing in euphonium and tuba, he started his music journey at the age of 10. He received his bachelors and masters degrees from the top music school from Taiwan, Taipei National University of the Arts (TNUA), where he studied with Professor Fu-Hsuan Duan.
Today, Wei-Chien Chen is an active musician and educator in Taiwan. In 2002, he won the second prize in the Open Tuba Division of the National Music Competition. In 2003, he won the brass division of the Shin-Tian-Gong Elite Award, and he also was the semi-final in the 2012 International Tuba and Euphonium Association (ITEA) Competition. From 2016 to 2017, he was invited to perform 4 concerto performances.
For his educational experience, he teaches Euphonium and Tuba in elementary schools to high schools. He has successfully trained numerous students to receive university offers and top prizes in the national student music competitions every year.
In 2016, he co-founded the Master Low Brass Quartet, which has toured all over Taiwan and performed more than 20 concerts. In 2018, he co-founded the S Master Low Ensemble and began to be the main conductor and the artistic director the group, which consists of 30 to 35 Tuba and Euphonium members. The ensemble is currently the only large ensemble in Taiwan that rehearses on a regular basis.
In 2019, he was the main initiator to apply for the establishment of the Taiwan Tuba and Euphonium Association (TTEA). He became the first executive director of the association.
