Richard Demy

Richard plays on a Willson 2900 euphonium

Dr Richard Demy is a musician and music educator who has given over 40 recitals and numerous masterclasses across 17 states, and around the world.  He has been published in the International Tuba Euphonium Journal, and has won various national and international solo contests.  Always seeking creative ways to increase exposure of the Euphonium, he has performed in rock bands, salsa bands, traditional Peruvian ensembles, and electro-acoustical genres as well as many orchestras, and wind ensembles.  Currently he is performing on the ophicleide, a keyed bass bugle, as the predecessor to the euphonium to help dispel myths about its history.
Richard has degrees from Louisiana State University, George Mason University, and has recently completed his DMA at The University of North Texas. He currently lives in Dallas, Texas with his wife Sarah.  Constantly experimenting with new methods of music education, he has a large private studio whose members routinely place in State, National, and International contests.
