Mai Kokubo

Mai Kokubo plays a Willson mod. 2900TA euphonium
Person: Mai born in Shizuoka, Japan and in great demand for concerts!

 

Mai Kokubo is from Shizuoka, Japan and holds a Master of Music degree in Euphonium Performance from the University of North Texas, where she studied under Dr Brian Bowman. She also holds a bachelor’s degree from the Kunitachi College of Music, where she studied under Mr Toru Miura. Mai Kokubo was awarded 2nd prize in the 2012 Japan Wind and Percussion Competition (a 1st prize was not awarded). She has performed as a soloist with professional orchestras such as the Tokyo New City Orchestra, and with school bands. She has also been invited to appear as guest artist at various esteemed music festivals, including the 2012 Willson Festival in Tokyo and the ITEC 2014 at Indiana University.

She currently teaches at the Senzoku College of Music and the Tokoha Junior College of Music.
